Greenpower Mobility – All-Energy Medium and Heavy-Duty Vehicles Greenpower creates, builds and distributes a full suite of low-floor and high-floor all-electric heavy and medium-duty vehicles. This includes school buses, transit buses, cargo buses, buses for cargo and shuttles. EV Star is a zero-emission vehicle that offers a lot of customization. It's also fully FTA certified and Buy America compliant. It has a class-leading range and ADA wheelchair provisions. It also provides cargo delivery configurations. EV Star GreenPower Motor Company manufactures a complete line of heavy and medium-duty electric vehicles, including high-floor and lower-floor models. Their flagship vehicle is the EV Star Cab & Chassis platform, which can be used to accommodate various bodies and upfits for a variety of applications. The platform's clean sheet design approach allows for optimal battery pack placement and a lower center of gravity resulting in higher payload to range ratios. The EV Star REEFERX was developed for mid-to-last mile refrigerated deliveries as well as catering applications. The refrigerated truck's class 4 configuration's one interior wall structure and higher insulation levels compared to traditional trucks enable seamless sanitation, improved temperature control and a more extended life. The EV Star REEFERX offers superior capacity for cargo and an industry leading payload to range ratio that is ideal for zero emission passenger transport and goods. GreenPower has collaborated with Perrone Robotics to up-fit the EV Star with their TONY (To Navigate You) autonomous vehicle system, which will allow fleets to easily change to autonomous vehicles. The AV Star will also be able to support wireless charging of 75 kW. We had the opportunity to test drive the EV9 for a few hours on a local freeway and found it to be easy to drive and comfortable for long distances. The ride is smooth and smooth over ruts and bumps, while the EV9 does an excellent job of suppressing road noise and wind on the highway. The acceleration of the vehicle is astonishingly quick, and it has adjustable regenerative brakes that allow “one-pedal driving” simply by releasing the accelerator. The EV9 has a great range and can be fully charged in about three hours at home, or using any commercial charger. Drivers have the option of choosing between two operating modes: eco mode and sports mode. Eco mode prioritizes the power, cruise control and handling while sport mode focuses on speed. Both are fun to drive and provide an unique experience for those who have never driven an electric vehicle before. In addition to the EV9, GreenPower has several other electric vehicles, including a multi-purpose all-electric mini bus, called the EV Star. The EV Star is ADA-compliant and can be used for executive shuttles, transit or microtransit buses, vanpools, or paratransit vehicles. GreenPower produces approximately 10 EV Star busses a month for Jacksonville Transit Authority. The Jacksonville Transit Authority is replacing their fleet of diesel vehicles with 100 all-electric cars. GreenPower will increase production to meet the demand of the Biden Administration who is planning to electrify all school buses in America. Their EV Star buses are the first of their kind to be Altoona tested and FMVSS-certified, Buy America compliant, and ADA compliant. They will be eligible for federal transit grants.
